It's almost impossible to believe that Audrey's been in our lives for 4 years already. Time sure flies. And as much work as we've learned that raising kids entails, it hardly feels like it (most of the time). We'll see if that's still true once #3 gets here. Audrey's definitely ready to help, and has said as much, but she didn't seem to appreciate Dad's suggestion of signing her up for night time feedings.
Contrary to prior years', given the proximity of all of the kids birthdays, we decided this year just to cut our work in half and do one over the top birthday celebration for all 4 of them - this means a much more subdued actual birthday celebration for each of them. Audrey only had a few requests - that Parker sleep over, we have Chinese food for dinner, and cupcakes for dessert. The sleepover was the night of Celebrate Fairfax, and despite a full day of activities, it seemed like the girls stayed up most of the night. Partly due to goofing around, the other part due to a failed attempt by either of them to be flexible with the others' sleeping habits (Parker's too close to me, Audrey keeps talking, etc.). But both of them survived, and practice makes perfect. One can only assume they'll have plenty of practice over the years.
She was very excited to get her own 'big girl' bike (relatively speaking), and has already done quite a few rides in the driveway, one down to Parker's house and another one to the pool. She's getting much better at propelling herself most of the time (any decent incline causes some problems), and still panics every once in a while when she's going downhill, but she really likes riding so far (except when Dad pinches her chin with the helmet strap), and she's definitely getting the hang of it.
