Last weekend we had friends from Harrisburg and their kids visit for a weekend trip. The Dads spent Friday night at the Nats/Phils game and then we all took a trip to the zoo on Saturday. It was perfect weather for checking out the animals and having a picnic lunch. Both the kids really enjoyed themselves - Brennan was much more interested than we might have expected, though that might have been due to some prime viewing of some of the animals. We saw zebras, elephants, a peacock and one of the famous pandas pretty close up, which probably made things more interesting for him. Both of them really seemed to like the panda the most, and we were lucky to get such a good experience having him/her come so close. Brennan was so interested in the elephants that he's even started acting like one, mimicking their sound and throwing his arm around in front of his face like a trunk. While he's still not saying much (though he's trying harder), we'll take all of the animal sounds we can get. Maybe he'll be the next Steve Irwin.
